ABOUT ME
The Curse of the Vintage Sinn Watch
In an unassuming antique shop, hidden behind old brick walls, there rested a watch that governed more than time itself—a Sinn chronograph from the 1970s, matte, gracefully aged, surrounded by an air of mystery. The locals called it the “Virus of Time.” Whoever owned it fell under its spell—and lost themselves.
A watchmaker who once restored it spoke thereafter only of the perfection of its gears, until he lost his shop, and eventually his mind. A collector who purchased it never again saw beauty in any other watch.
One evening, I too entered that shop. The elderly seller warned me: “This watch changes people.” I simply smiled—clueless.
At first, it was a triumph. I wore it with pride, drew admiration, found friends among fellow enthusiasts. But soon, everything revolved around it. For hours I watched the play of light across its dial.
I sought proximity to Helmut Sinn himself—and found in him a mentor, a man of discipline, humor, and conviction. His words inspired me, but they also fed my hunger. I began collecting—more and more, ever more restlessly.
One night, when the watch struck midnight, its ticking turned into a heartbeat. It looked at me—or through me. And in that moment, I knew: I wasn’t its owner. I was its next victim.
By morning, the shop was empty. No trace of me remained.
They say the Sinn chronograph now waits for its next bearer. Others claim I have become a collector myself—driven by an insatiable longing for perfection.
So if you ever see a vintage Sinn watch that seems too perfect, too magical to be real—ask yourself whether you want to own it.
Or whether it has long since chosen you.
I don’t just collect watches—I collect stories.
Every vintage Sinn watch carries the marks of time, a piece of passion, an echo of Helmut Sinn’s vision. What began as fascination became a journey through precision, character, and soul.
Lost in time, found in Sinn.
Sincerely, your Vintage Sinn Collector
Michele Tripi
