SINN 4 ATM

A touch of history: This rare vintage Sinn 4 ATM from the 1970s is far more than just a timepiece – it is a piece of living watchmaking heritage. Its authentic design, matured patina, and striking presence tell the story of an era when Sinn was still considered an insider’s secret among connoisseurs. Every detail carries the unmistakable character of its time, making this model a true rarity that captures the heart of collectors. A watch like this is not only meant to be worn, but also to be preserved – as a testament to originality, tradition, and passion.

SINN 4 ATM

The Sinn 4 ATM is one of the more intriguing early chronographs from the transitional period between the 1960s and 1970s. It is identical in construction and technical design to the Jaeger 4 ATM Chronograph.

The case, movement, hands, bezel, and serial numbering system show no differences between the two models. Both watches most likely originated from the same production line, with Sinn and Jaeger applying their respective brand markings. This practice was not uncommon at the time—smaller manufacturers and distributors often sourced identical components from established producers to release watches under their own brand names.

The serial numbers of the Sinn 4 ATM begin, like those of the Jaeger version, with the sequence 442 and consist of six digits. This correspondence strongly suggests a shared production batch and indicates that both models were assembled in the same factory.

The stainless-steel case is sturdily built and features a screw-down back, providing a water resistance rating of 4 ATM. The silver dial is complemented by black subsidiary registers, a characteristic design choice of the era that gives the chronograph its clean and functional aesthetic.

Inside, the watch houses a reliable mechanical chronograph movement, similar to those used in many timepieces of the same period. Its construction reflects the engineering spirit of the era, when functionality and precision were paramount.

The Sinn 4 ATM is therefore not only a technical counterpart to the Jaeger 4 ATM Chronograph but also a noteworthy example of the close collaboration between manufacturers and suppliers in post-war German and Swiss watchmaking.
